Odisha chit fund scam: High Court rejects BJD’s Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy’s bail plea

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: The Odisha High Court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former government chief whip and BJD’s Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy over his alleged complicity in the multi-thousand crore chit fund scam being inquired by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the state. BJD's Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy The decision of High Court is a major setback for Tripathy and the ruling BJD as well. The Court had kept its verdict reserved after completing hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Tripathy on October 16. It had also extended the interim relief granted to him over the period from arrest by CBI in chit fund link. Tripathy had moved the High Court after CBI raided his house and interrogated in connection with the chit fund scam.
