DGP Handing over 8 lakhs to Martyr's Family at State Police Headquarters in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. R.P.Sharma on Monday handed over the insurance claim settlement cheque of Rs 8 lakhs to Manjari Majhi, sister of Martyred Sepoy Sanjaya Majhi of DVF in a simple function at R.K.Padhi Memorial Hall (IPS Mess) Cuttack.


This is the claim settled by HDFC Bank. Handing over the cheque, DGP Dr. Sharma appreciated the effort of HDFC Bank for an early settlement of insurance claim. He also called upon the Bank officials to continue such kind of promptness in future days also.

Sepoy Sanjaya Majhi achieved martyrdom while fighting in the line of duty on April 04, 2018. He sacrificed his life in a landmine explosion near Sakata village under Muniguda Police Station in Rayagada District. The incident happened during a combing operation in the locality.

Mr. Debashis Senapati, Regional Head (Odisha & Andaman) HDFC along with other Senior Officers of HDFC Bank and Odisha Police were present in the programme.


In his address Mr. Senapati said “we feel privileged to be associated with Odisha police. We are committed to serve Odisha police in the best possible way. We have made provision for personal Accident Death Coverage of Rs 30 lakhs on the salary account to all Police officials in Odisha irrespective of ranks and cadres”.
