Odia girl secures 199th rank in Civil Service Examination

Rourkela: The 3-day 2 nd International Conference on Communication, Computing and Security (ICCCS)-2012 organised by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of the Institute concluded today at NIT, Rourkela. The conference sponsored by the Department of Information Technology, Government of India provided a common platform for experts from industry and academic to share their knowledge for promoting research and developing relevant technologies. As many as 514 research articles from 11 countries were received. 124 were presented during the conference. About 150 delegates from India and abroad participated in the conference. Rourkela: A three-day International conference titled ‘2 nd International Conference on Communication, Computing and Security (ICCCS)-2012’ is being organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela from tomorrow and will continue till 08 th October 2012. RSP, district administration celebrate Gandhi Jayanti

Rourkela: The Steel City joined the nation in celebrating the 143 rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today. A grand function was organized by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and the District Administration, Rourkela at Civic Centre here to mark the occasion. Eminent personalities, including RSP CEO, G S Prasad; Rourkela Sub-Collector, S Mishra; president of city-based philanthropic organization Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Manjari Prasad; and State Government officials and other eminent citizens of the Steel City were present on this occasion. Celebrating this Day Chandrasekhar Sports Organisation (CSO) of Rourkela has organized a felicitation programme at Sector-4 in local Dak Bungalow here.  Being the Chief Guest of this occasion Michael Kindo, Former Indian Hocker player and Olympics bronze medal winner felicitated Hockey player Birendra Lakra of Gurundia village of Sundargarh districts.  Kindo told that the numbers of Odisha Hockey player are less this time in Indian squad in Olympics 2012. Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) celebrated ‘National Sports Day’, which is also the birthday of hockey legend Dhyan Chand, amidst fun and festivity at Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium here yesterday. The programme commenced with the offering of floral tributes to Dhyan Chand by chief guest Dr. S K Mishra, Director in charge (M&HS); senior officers of RSP and Sports department, eminent sportspersons and the sports lovers of the Steel City. Highlighting the importance of sports in human life, Dr. Mishra exhorted the students to pursue sporting activities in order to maintain a sound physical and mental health.
