Torture case: Lopamudra Mishra lands second time at Badagada police station

Bhubaneswar, June 26:  Lopamudra Mishra, who had alleged of being physically and mentally tortured by her industrialist father-in-law Trailokya Mishra and husband Sabyasachi, knocked at the door of Badagada police station for second time in Odisha’s capital city. On Sunday, Lopamudra met Inspector in charge (IIC) of Badagada police station Suvendu Sinha and lodged a fresh complaint against her husband and in-laws.    Lopamudra alleged in her complaint that she has been receiving threats to her life on her Facebook and WhatsApp accounts. As per the report, on her Facebook the associates of Trailokya Mishra use to upload write-ups thereby affecting her self-respect. The IIC, on the other hand, said, “We have already asked the complainant to submit the documents supporting her allegations. Sex racket busted from restaurant: Owner among 4 arrested

Bhubaneswar, June 22: Acting on a tip off, the Commissionerate Police today busted a sex racket running inside a restaurant located in Bomikhal area under Laxmisagar police limits. Four persons including owner of the restaurant were nabbed by the police, while they were indulged in flesh trade. The arrested persons were identified as owner of the restaurant Jyotiranjan Nayak hails from Bhandaripokhari area, customer Sanjay Kumar Khantua of Govindapur, Ramchandra Mallick of Niyalli and Srikanta Singh of Kaipadar. Couple’s doctor murder case: commissionerate police arrested three accused

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: After more than a month of thorough investigation, the commissionerate police on Saturday cracked the sensational murder case of a doctor couple in Saileshree Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits by arresting three accused persons involved in the brutal crime. The police have seized four mobile phones, six golden bangles, Rs 2100 and a chappad from the accused possession. The accused were identified as Kishore Chandra Behera (44) alias Timpa of Nehrunagar in Ganjam district, Md Kamal Khan alias Muna (22)and his wife Phulsari Behera alias Nini(36), both of Aul in Kendrapara district. Bhubaneswar, May 22: Dhauli Police Station IIC Debi Prasad Das was nabbed red-handed by Vigilance officials here today while he was taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person staying in Lingipur area in order to drop a case. Dhauli police station IIC Debi Prasad Das Getting alerted a 15 member team of Vigilance officials headed by Vigilance Cell DSP Debadutta Seth conducted surprise raid at the residence of the IIC located in Pokhariput area and seized the said amount from Das. Bhubaneswar, May 22: Parents of Kumari Suchita, a student of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), who had reportedly committed suicide on November 18 last year, today sought mediapersons intervention bringing allegation that their daughter was murdered. Parents of Kumari Suchita Talking to the mediapersons in a press conference at Lohiya Academy here Suchita’s mother Dr Mudrika Tiwari, who was accompanied by Pradip Pradhan, State Convener of Odisha Soochna Adhikar Abhiyan (OSAA) and a lawyer, claimed, “My daughter was very brave. Bhubaneswar, May 21: After nearly 16 months of the incident, the District and Sessions Judge Court here today convicted a man to 10 years imprisonment for hurling crude bomb on to the CBI Special Court Judge dais in Odisha capital. Upendra Mohanty The judgement was passed by assistant session Judge PL Sathpathy.  Upendra Mohanty alias Netaji, a 63-year-old man belonging to Sarangpur village of Bari in Jajpur district, was arrested by the Badagada police soon after he hurled two crude bombs at the CBI Special Court Judge dais during lunch break on January 27 last year. Police had registered a case against Mohanty under sections 307, 342, 341 and 3/4 Explosive Act on the next day and forwarded him to a local court here. Man held for duping youth impersonating himself as CRPF officer

Bhubaneswar, Sept 29: Commissionerate Police today arrested a 30-year-old man for duping a Sundarpada resident of Rs 1.09 lakh impersonating himself as a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer. Accused Balaram Das The victim has been identified as Ashis Patra (25). According to Nayapalli police, Balaram Das, the accused hails from Bhadrak district, impersonating him as an inspector of CRPF had taken Rs 1.09 lakhs from Patra promising him to provide home appliances like fridge, television, washing machine and others from a defence canteen in Vishakhapatnam at 50 per cent less than the actual rate of these appliances. The accused had taken the amount from Patra in August 22. But later the accused had failed to return the received amount of the victim after his repeated calls.
