Rourkela: Like every year, thousands of visitors are thronging Maa Vaishno Devi temple at Rourkela on the occasion of Navaratri. Devotees of the city are on fast for nine days with the belief that Navaratri comes before Dussehra to fulfill wishes and bring happiness for everyone. Susanta Behera, a devotee of Basanti Colony said, “I fast on Navaratri for my daughter and come to Maa Vaishno Devi temple for Puja both in the Morning and Evening”. Ashok Shukla, head priest of the temple, informed that the temple, which was constructed in 2003, houses idols of presiding deities namely Goddesses Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati.   “Mata Mahakali rules the unknown realms of life where Maa Kali enables devotees to conquer the forces of darkness. Rourkela: The Rourkela Mazdoor Sabha (RMS), an affiliate of the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), has come out openly against HMS state president and former MLA Rajendra Prasad alias ‘Raju’ Singh after the latter joined the Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM), an outfit launched by suspended Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra. Addressing a press conference here today, RMS leader and working president of HMS state committee Bidyadhar Barik said Singh’s decision to join OJM was entirely his own individual decision and the RMS had nothing to do with it. “The RMS is a free, independent and democratic union and is not affiliated to any political party. Each member of RMS is free to align with any party as long as it does not harm the organization,” he said. Rourkela: As part of the crackdown on mining establishments under the ongoing investigation into the coal scam, sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from New Delhi conducted raids on the residence and offices of leading mine owner and sponge iron maker Prashant Ahluwalia here today. The CBI sleuths also raided the head office of KJS Ahluwalia & Co at the mineral-rich Barbil in Keonjhar district. The Delhi office of KJS Ahluwalia & Co and its factory premises at Satna in Madhya Pradesh were among the 16 company establishments raided simultaneously today following allegations of irregularities, sources said. A company spokesperson, however, made light of today’s raids saying it was part of a nationwide exercise and the company had nothing to fear. “It was a routine raid and we fully cooperated with the CBI officers. Rourkela: During one-day visit of Minister of Energy and Information & Public Relations Arun Sahoo to Rourkela yesterday has witnessed various programmes related to energy. Sahoo laid the foundation stone of two 33/11 KV Sub-stations, one at Bandhamunda and other at Jalda in the presence of Minister of State for Commerce and Transport Subrat Tarai and other senior officials of the energy department and party leaders. Sahoo informed that the locals will be well served once the put-up works of these two sub-substations finish. Sources said an estimated budget of Rs. 3.10 crore for Bandhamunda and Rs. 2.26 crore for Jalda will be spent for the construction of both the sub-station by the state government which will be completed within a time gap of one and half year to meet the demand of the people.
