Preparatory meeting held for smooth conduct of 5th ODI match between India and Australia

Bhubaneswar: The preparatory meeting for hosting of the 5th One-day International (ODI) Cricket match smoothly at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack was held on Thursday at police Headquarter here in presence of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) officials and other senior police officials of the twin city.

The meeting was headed by twin city commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma along with OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera. Discussions were made on elaborate security arrangement to guard players and round the stadium so as to hoist the ODI match smoothly. “Players’ security will be our first priority”, said Sharma adding that tight security arrangement would be in place at the airport, hotels where the teams would stay and also in and around the stadium.

Regarding installation of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras for easy monitoring and having complete control on maintaining of law and order, Sharma said nearly 74 CCTV cameras were installed during last ODI match at Barabati. “This time its number would be doubled,” Sharma said adding that the DCPs of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar would be in charge of the security arrangements in the twin city.

The 5th ODI match (Day/night) between India and Australia is scheduled to be held on October 26 this year at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The players of both the teams will be arriving at Bhubaneswar on October 24 and have their net practice sessions at Barabati Stadium on October 25.

OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera said, “New systems like bar coding have been introduced to check duplication of entry tickets. Tickets will be sold both online and through banks. Online sale of tickets will be handled by Ticketgenie Solutions Pvt. Ltd”. Selling tickets online enable cricket lovers other than Cuttack to book their ticket comfortably, Behera added.

Stating that the present seating capacity of Barabati Stadium is about 45,000, Behera said, “We have decided to print 44,455 tickets. The total number of tickets to be sold is 32,990, out of which 20,350 will be available for public and the rest 12,640 tickets would be reserved for BCCI sponsors, OCA members, affiliated units of the OCA and OOA, staff, advertisers and affiliated state units of BCCI”. Unsold tickets for the reserved categories shall be made available to the public sale, he said.

The ground and pitch preparation is in progress. Different Sub-Committees will be formed to look after the individual unit work. The Star Sports/Star Cricket will take up the live telecast of the ODI on October 26, 2013, he added.  

In the meantime, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has booked more than 80 rooms in Hotel May Fair Lagoon here for accommodation of the teams, match referee, board officials and others.
