Rourkela, Sept 11: “All-out efforts have to be made to popularize the literary oeuvre of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja,” said GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing the gathering at the ‘Kavi Samrat Upendra Bhanja Festival-2015’ organized at Civic Centre on Thursday. The programme was organised by Aks foundation, a cultural organisation of New Delhi under the auspices of RSP. The cultural evening was inaugurated by the CEO with lighting the ceremonial lamp and paying floral tributes to the legend Kavi Samrat Upendra Bhanja. Mrs Manjari Prasad, President of Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS) was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Youth held for video graphing obscene videos in girls' bathroom

Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: After a day-long protest by the students of KIIT University in Odisha capital, the commissionerate police today arrested a 25-year-old youth on the charges of capturing obscene videos of a girl student at the Campus-VI hall bathroom with the help of his mobile phone installed inside it  yesterday . Accused Rakesh Padhiary The accused identified as Rakesh Padhiary of Gandarpur in Barang on outskirt of the city, was working as a daily labourer in the university. The arrest of Padhiary was made by the Infocity police here after acting on an FIR lodged by the girl student today who had handed over the accused yesterday to the police after some girl students of the university caught red handed the culprit. Rourkela, Sept 11: The annual function of ‘Ninaad’ the musical venture of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) will be celebrated at Civic Centre in the Steel City tomorrow. It is worth mentioning here that under the guidance of GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSP and a passionate music lover, ‘Ninaad’ was launched about three years ago in order to create a symphony in steel. The idea behind the initiative was to hone and bring to the limelight the musical talents from among the employees as well as their family members. Since then the journey of Ninaad has been extremely exciting and eventful. The initiative that was launched with a handful of artists, now boasts of having about 60 artists comprising employees from various department of the Steel Plant as well as talented spouses and children of many employees. Rourkela, Sept 9: Adding beauty to the ambience inside the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), ‘Shyamali’, a beautiful garden developed in front of PBS Cooling Tower of Blast Furnace-5 was inaugurated by GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSP today. Panic gripped as lady doctor jumps to death from 8th floor of apartment

Bhubaneswar, Sept 6: Panic struck residents of the Banalata Apartment located in Saheed Nagar area in Odisha capital when a 45-year-old lady doctor committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of the apartment this afternoon. Suicide (Courtesy- newsfirst.lk ) Though the incident took place around 1.30 pm, the deceased body was reportedly recovered an hour later by the police who were informed by the apartment people. The deceased, identified as Swetapadma Mishra, a gynecologist working at Jagannath Hospital located under Saheed Nagar police limits, was then rushed to Apollo hospital in the city where she was declared brought dead. Her body was then shifted to Capital hospital here for the post-mortem. Woman fought bravely till last minute to nab chain snatchers

Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: Showing her bravery in fighting two looteras, a 35-year-old woman today managed to catch the miscreants, who had planned to snatch her gold chain while she was entering to her residence in Rasulgarh area in Odisha capital with her scooty, getting help of local people. The miscreants identified as Bijay Kumar Sahu and Harihar Das, both hail from Haladipadia under Laxmisagar police limits were later handed over to the Mancheswar police personnel by the locals. Police sources said while the complainant Deepti Rekha Rout of Rasulgarh area was returning with her child in scooty this afternoon, two bike-borne miscreants followed her vehicle. The accused persons tried to snatch the lady’s gold chain when she was entering her residence. “The accused persons first tried to snatch the gold chain of the lady and when she resisted they took hold of her child and tried to harm her. The lady did not lose her nerve and fought till last minute to catch the looters.
