Murdered M Pharma student’s parents, supporters seek CBI probe, stage protest rally
Bhubaneswar: Dissatisfied over the police investigation into the
murder of M Pharma student Manmohan Pradhan, who was killed by a group of goons
during a brawl near Chintamanishwar temple on August 19 last month, the parents
of the deceased along with the State unit of All India Democratic Youth
Organisation and Student-Youth Action Committee (SYAC) of Delanga of Puri
district, on Tuesday took out a protest rally and demanded immediate shifting
of the case to CBI and Rs 50 lakh compensation to the deceased student’s family
members.
Holding Banner and placards, hundreds of supporters took
out the rally from Master Canteen square to lower PMG demanding justice for the
deceased family. The protestors too demanded a Government job to one of the
deceased family since he was the only son of their family.
“Miscreants killed my son brutally. Even though a month
has already elapsed into the murder, the Commissionerate police are yet to nab
the main accused. How do we trust on the police for justice,” said father of the
murdered student Mitu Kishore Pradhan, demanding a CBI probe into the murder.
Submitting memorandum to the Chief Minister and
highlighting their demands, the protestors led by SYAC president Lenin Mohanty
urged the Chief Minister to ensure immediate arrest of the other two main
accused and to handover the case to CBI for impartial inquiry to unearth the
exact reason of the murder.
“If the said demands were not provided to the victim’s
family by the government then we will take the protest to the streets in the
coming days,” warned Mohanty.
