CEO, RSP inaugurating Sanitary Napkin Centre
Rourkela, Apr 20: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, has been striving for promoting women empowerment in domains such as health, livelihood, education etc.

Yet another chapter in this regard has been written with the establishment of a low cost sanitary napkins manufacturing centre at Deepika Mahila Jagruti Sansthan, Sector-2, Rourkela. The centre has been set up with the support of RSP-CSR and with the help of Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS), under the dynamic leadership of its President, Mrs. Manjari Prasad.

The centre was inaugurated by CEO, RSP G S Prasad on Monday in the presence of Mrs. Prasad and the inventor of the Low Cost Sanitary Napkin Machine / Pads, Arunachalam Muruganantham, a President’s Awardee for Best Innovation from Coimbatore. Several Senior Officers of RSP and office bearers of members of DMS were also present on the occasion.

The product with its brand name ‘Jagriti Sanitary Napkin’ has also been launched on the same day.

The Centre has two sets of machines manufactured by M/s Jayashree Industries, Coimbatore, for producing normal and maternity pads. It is nature-friendly and easy to dispose. This has enhanced the accessibility and affordability to hygienic, comfortable and quality sanitary napkins among the peripheral, lower and lower middle class populace.

The centre will produce the low-cost Maternity Pads which would be supplied to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of RSP in addition to the special targeted population.
