Eviction drive in Odisha capital: unauthorized constructions over IDCO land cleared

Bhubaneswar, May 22: As per the schedule, the Joint Eviction Team consisting of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), IDCO and GA departments rushed to the Ambatota Basti for demolition of unauthorized constructions over IDCO land on Friday.

The encroached land was situated under Chandrasekharpur Mauza measuring area of 6.28 acres.

The same eviction was started from yesterday (21.05.2015) following a requisition made by Divisional Head, BCD division of IDCO vide Letter No.-1237 noticed on May 14 this year.

63 numbers of dwelling houses, 5 Cowshed, 2 wooden cabins and 2 temporary shops was demolished by the squad engaged in the eviction drive. Demolition squad of BDA and GA along with OSSF personals and Home Guards of BDA were also present.

Five excavators (one from BDA, one from BMC and three from IDCO) have been engaged by the squad for the eviction drive.

The demolition drive was conducted by Enforcement Officer of BDA Pramod Kumar Patro, Liasioning Officer of BDA Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty, Deputy Commissioner of BMC Deepak Kumar Routray and Assistant Commissioner (Enforcement) of BMC Mulla Mahamad Ali.

Four platoons of police forces were deployed at the eviction site to maintain law and order during the demolition drive supervised by Zone ACP Fagua Singh, IIC of Infocity police station Dilip Kumar Swain and IIC of Nandankanan Pravash Chandra Pal.

The joint eviction programme was conducted successfully without any opposition from the locals. All the affected family were given their compensation amount of Rs 6600 as they are covered under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) Scheme, informed Liasioning Officer of BDA.
