Rourkela Municipality celebrates Local Self Governance Day

Rourkela: The Rourkela Municipality today celebrated Local self Governance Day at its premises. Rourkela SP, Himanshu Lal, gracing the occasion as chief guest hoisted the flag.

A website of Rourkela Municipality was also launched.

ADM Rourkela R N Mishra urged the employees and councilors to work hard for shaping the municipality into a corporation in lines with Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and in Berhampur. He also informed that plan is afoot to introduce police commissionerate system for the Steel City.

Chairman Rashmibala Mishra spoke on the initiatives being taken by the Municipality towards development of Rourkela.
  
Among others Executive Officer B K Swain, Municipal Engineer M Mishra, Health Officer S K Parida and senior officers of Rourkela Municipality were present.
Later, Kennels for Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme at Panposh SDVO (Sub-divisional Veterinary office), Souchalaya at Ward No.-31 and Vending Zone at Koelnagar were inaugurated.

Vedvyas Mela kicks off

Rourkela: The 105th Vedvyas Mela was kicked off at the Vedvyas temple on the outskirts of the steel city on Maha Shivratri here last evening. Briefing newsmen on the occasion, Rourkela ADM Rabindranath Mishra spoke on the importance of the Mela and venue saying that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the visitors. Besides lightning, health and sanitation measures, adequate police forces have been deployed to oversee law and order situation and traffic. Besides, fire tenders have been also deployed to tackle any fire mishap during the Mela. The Administration has also put up barricades along the rivers bank to restrict the devotees from taking bath, the ADM informed. The state-of-the-art Blood Cell Separator is a Mobile Collection System and operates on the highly updated apheresis technology. It is a highly mobile, compact and lightweight total apheresis system and technically advanced. Once the operator initiates the MCS+ procedure, this sophisticated separator automatically removes whole blood from a donor, separates the blood into components (red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and platelets), retains one or more of the components, and returns the reminder of the blood to the donor.
