Titli and flood havoc: Odisha government intensifies electricity restoration work

Distribution System has been very severely affected in the Severe Cyclonic
Storm-Titli, in the Southern Districts: Ganjam, Gajpati, Kandhamal and
Rayagada. In addition to distribution lines, four major transmission lines:
Therubali-Narendrapur, Nrendrapur-Atri, Chatrapur-Ganjam and Rayagada-Akhusingh
have also been affected.

The restoration work of 132 KV
Akhusingh –Mohana ,Digapahandi-Mohana line and 220 KV Atri-Narendrapur and
Therubali-Narendrapur transmission line has been completed by last evening.

Similarly the restoration work in
and around Aska is in slow pace as it has been marooned by Cyclonic flood in
Rushikulya river. Teams are ready there for restoration work.
As per the information received,
around 1250 Kilometers lines have been restored and 90 poles have been replaced
so far. Around 6 lakhs consumers have got back their Electricity connection.
Leave of the Officials has been
cancelled and officers on leave has been called back. In spite of continues
heavy rain and amidst post-cyclone flood situation, the quick response
teamsunder Energy Department are putting their best efforts for restoration of
Power supply. Emergency control room in the Head quarter is monitoring the
progress.
Shri Susant Singh, State's Energy Minister and Sri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Commissioner-Cum- Secretary,
Department of Energy, GoO have today visited the affected districts to review
and monitor the restoration activities in the field.
