Torture case: Lopamudra Mishra lands second time at Badagada police station

Bhubaneswar, June 26: Lopamudra Mishra, who had alleged of being physically and mentally tortured by her industrialist father-in-law Trailokya Mishra and husband Sabyasachi, knocked at the door of Badagada police station for second time in Odisha’s capital city.

On Sunday, Lopamudra met Inspector in charge (IIC) of Badagada police station Suvendu Sinha and lodged a fresh complaint against her husband and in-laws.

Lopamudra alleged in her complaint that she has been receiving threats to her life on her Facebook and WhatsApp accounts. As per the report, on her Facebook the associates of Trailokya Mishra use to upload write-ups thereby affecting her self-respect.

The IIC, on the other hand, said, “We have already asked the complainant to submit the documents supporting her allegations. The investigation will be done accordingly.”

On June 17, the Mahila Police had pasted a notice at the house of Trailokya Mishra asking him, his son Sabyasachi Mishra and wife Asha Manjari to appear before it on or before June 22 to record their statements in connection with the dowry torture case lodged by his daughter-in-law Lopamudra Mishra.

Meanwhile the police are planning to move to the court in order to issue a warrant order against Trailokya Mishra, wife Asha Manjari and son Sabyasachi Mishra as they have to appear before it. In addition to this, the police have also circulated the photographs of the accused at all airport terminals and have asked the authority to keep vigil on them, in a bid to arrest them.

On June 15, Lopamudra for the first time had lodged a complaint at the Badagada police station that some unidentified youths on June 14 night had barged into the Tankapani Road residence of her parents where she is currently residing and had threatened to kill her and kidnap her son.

Notably, Lopamudra had lodged a complaint at the Mahila Police Station on May 10 this year vide case no. 117/2016 alleging that she have been subjected to physical and mental torture for dowry by her husband and her in-laws.

Failing to get justice after a month from the police, she revealed her story of torture before the media.

Lopamudra even alleged that her husband had proposed to her for wife-swapping when they were on a visit to Port Blair.
