BJP stages demo over Coalgate
Rourkela: Hundreds of BJP activists led by its district unit president
Dhiren Senapati today staged demonstration in protest against the coal block
allocation issue, seeking resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Shouting
anti-UPA slogans, the saffron party workers demonstrated outside the ADM office
here. The BJP leader alleged that involvement of Prime Minister in Coalgate has
hampered development of the country.
The
protesters submitted a memorandum, addressed to the President of India, to the
ADM. Senapati alleged that Congress at the Centre is involved in various scams
like Commonwealth Games (Rs. 76,000 crore embezzlement) and 2-G spectrum (Rs.
1, 78,000 lakh crore).
Quoting the
CAG’s report, the coal block scam to the tune of Rs. 1, 86,000 crore has left
its impact on common people. They have to bear the brunt of increased taxes on
goods, rise in fuel price and limited supply of LPG cylinders, he alleged.
The BJP
leader expressed concern that rise in fuel price will add to the woes of the
common people who are reeling under spiraling prices of essential commodities.
He was also
critical of the Central Government’s decision on 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand
retail sector, dubbing it as anti-national and anti-consumer. This will
directly affect more than 5 crore small traders in the country, he rued.
Among others Kisan Sahu, former MLA Sankar Oram, L D Senapati, N M Poddar, Subrat Patnaik, Niranjan Rout and Prafulla Mishra were present.
