Summer Trade Expo records Rs. 80-lakh business

Rourkela: The 10-day ‘Summer Trade Expo’ being organized by Expo Event Management Group (EEMG), a leading business outfit of Rourkela at Exhibition Ground here, has recorded business to the tune of Rs. 80 lakh till today.

Sanjib Nayak, Head of EEMG, said, “As many as 200 stalls have been put up at the exhibition where a wide range of durable summer products like cotton kurtas and sarees are being sold on a large scale. The wide variety of coolers, water freezer, water purifier and CLF blubs available at the Expo are attracting crowds in large numbers. EEMG has so far done business worth about Rs. 80 lakh.”

Earlier, EEMG had organized Rourkela Trade Expo and Odissi Consumer Fair. “This is the first time that we have organized Summer Trade Expo here,” said Nayak.

The main attraction of the expo is a ‘Manoranjan Park’. With a variety of swings- Octopus swing, Museum Chair, Merry-go-round swing, Mickey Mouse swing- along with six other swings, the park is a huge draw for children.

Besides, a host of electronic and electrical products are being sold while traders from western Odisha are selling handloom products, a variety of quality wooden and steel furniture. Insurance and loan stalls by nationalized banks, distance and computer education stalls attracts more families and students at large.

The fair also has stalls from Rourkela selling jewellery, attractive gifts, anklets, utensils, dinner sets, silver items, wedding materials, Puja gifts, cutlery and other items.

Some traders have also showcased products like exclusive collection of cushion covers, sofa covers, pillow covers, carpets, window and door screen and bed-sheets.

Well-known jewellery shops of Rourkela like Prasad Jewellery, Dharamnath Jewellery, Prasad Gold Plaza, Tanishq, etc., have also exhibited their products.

Automobile dealers of Rourkela- Dua Motor’s (Hero), Guru Govind’s (TVS), Garud Motor’s (Yahama), Orbit Motor’s (Maruti Car) and Balaram Motors (Chervolet Car) have taken part in the trade fair.

Cultural programmes and various competitions among children have been part of the fair which will continue till April 14. Tapas Parida, a resident of Birijapalli along with his family went on a shopping spree while his children enjoyed the swings.

The fair was inaugurated by ADM Rourkela Rabindranath Mishra. President of Rourkela BJD, Anand Chandra Mohanty, President, Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahesh J Vajir and DIPRO, Rourkela Ajay Jena, were present.

The Expo was opened to all in evening between 4 pm to 10 pm.
