Rourkela Steel Plant bags a host of National awards

Rourkela, Aug 14: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of the Maharatna Company SAIL, has bagged a host of National level awards.

Three employees of the Steel plant have been selected to receive the prestigious Prime Minister’s Shram Awards. Upendra Maharana, SOST, Tonnage Oxygen Plant-II has bagged the award in Shram Vir Category. He will be receiving a cash award of Rs. 60,000 and a ‘Sanad’. Manoj Kumar Pradhan, Sr. Technician, ERWPP has bagged the Shram Shree award while Mrs Rajalaxmi Acharya, Senior Instructor, HRD Centre has got the Shram Devi award. Each one of them will be receiving a cash award of Rs. 40,000 and a ‘Sanad.’

It is worth mentioning here that RSP is the only SAIL unit figuring in the list of 40 Prime Minister's Shram Awardees for 2013.  Mrs Acharya is the only lady employee from a Public Sector to receive the Shram Devi award.

Another important achievement is 35 of RSP’s employees being chosen to receive the prestigious Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar Awards for the Performance Year 2012. This is the highest number of employees from RSP to win this award. A team of 8 employees from Blast Furnace (Mechanical) bagged the award in Class-A. Another team of 7 employees from Coke Ovens got the award in Class-B. Three groups of employees from OB and BP (7 persons), Roll Shop (8 persons) and Electronics and Electrical Services (5 persons) have been selected in Class-C.

Besides, in the National Safety Award-2012 RSP’s Electrical Distribution System of Town Engineering (Electrical) has bagged a Winner and a Runners-up Award in two categories, while the Water Purification Plant of Town Engineering (Water Supply) has won two Runners-up awards in different categories.

GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSP expressed immense happiness over RSP and its employees being chosen to receive such a huge number of national level awards. “This is recognition to our commitment, dedication and team work. I am confident that inspired by these hosts of awards the RSP collective will work with even more enthusiasm and make RSP touch fresh pinnacles of success,” he said.
