BLOs imparted training on electoral roll revision
Rourkela: All block level officers underwent an awareness training
programme about strategies and suggestions to be adopted to reduce the Elector
Population (E-P) ratio and achieve 100 per cent photo and Election Photo Identity
Card (EPIC) coverage and correction in rolls during the forthcoming special
summary revision of electoral rolls, which will start from April 8 and will
continue till June 1.
The meeting was held yesterday at ITDA conference hall
here in which Panposh Sub-Collector Shyam Bhakt Mishra as the Electoral
Registration Officer and Returning officer of three assembly constituencies-
Rourkela, Raghunathpali and Biramitrapur- instructed all Block Level Officers
(BLOs) to receive applications in form No.-6 from eligible un-enrolled voters in
the age group of 18-19 years.
He also emphasized on collection of form-6 from different
colleges and technical institutes to enroll youth voters in the age group 18-19
by the nodal officers of concerned institutes.
As to reduction in E-P ratio, Mishra advised all BLOs to
delete the names of repeated elector in the voter list through list generated
booth wise check-up by the process of de-duplication software and to find and
eliminate dead and shifted voters in their booths. He also said deletion will
be made by the death list supplied by the health departments of Panposh
Sub-division (death list from last three years).
As per a survey, about 17,000 voters from these three
constituencies are likely to be cancelled due to repeated elector, he informed.
The Sub-Collector also instructed all BLOs to collect
photographs from residual and non-residual electors to achieve 100 per cent
photo and Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) coverage during the forthcoming revision
process.
Among others, Bijay Kumar Swain, executive officer,
Rourkela Municipality, Mamata Nayak, additional Sub-Collector, Panposh, Ajay
Jena, DIPRO, Rourkela, all DIOs, SHG groups, BDOs, CDPOs and political members
were present.
