Sri Jagannath Chetana Mahadhibesan kicks off
Rourkela: In order to popularize the culture of unique customs and
festivities of Lord Jagannath in Western parts of the state, Biswa Jagannath
Chetana Sansad Jagannath Dham, Puri has started its 29th Sri Jagannath Chetana
Mahadhibesan here today at Uditnagar Parade ground. The religious congregation
will go on till March 28.
Talking to
PBD, Surya Narayan Rath Sharma, head acharya propagating Jagannath culture, informed
that during the ongoing 11-day Adhibeshana, a set of daily rituals and customs
including Atibishnu Mahayagyan comprising of 10.51 lakh ‘aahuti’ accompanied by slokas will be performed till the last day. This
apart, Narayana Upasana, Maa Kanak Durga Upasana, Ananda Bazaar and Abhisekas as
part of Lord Jagannath culture will also be performed.
The most
attractive feature of the Adhibeshana is exhibition of 32 ‘bhesas’ (attires) of
Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra- Abakasa Besha, Sakala Dhupa Bhesa, Bada Shrungara Besha, Chandana Laggi
Besha, Sennapatta Laggi Besha, Gajananna Besha, Naba Joubana Besha, Tahiya
Laggi Besha, Suna Bhesa, Jhulana Sandhya Alati Besha, Banna Bhoji Besha, Kaliya
Dalanna Besha, Pralambasura Badha Besha, Krushna Balaram Besha, Giri Gobardhana
Besha, Bamana Besha, Raghunath Besha, Radha Damodar Besha, Thiakia Besha,
Adakiya Besha, Banka Chuda Besha, Dalikiya Besha, Nagarjuna Besha, Sradha
Besha, Ghodalaggi Besha, Pusya Abhishek Besha, Padma Besha, Nabanka Besha,
Makara Chourasi Besha, Gajja Udharana Besha, Chacheri Besha and Dola Purnami
Suna Besha.
Hundreds of
devotees thronged the inaugural day of the Adhibesana and had a glimpse of the
Trinity. Over 400 priests are expected to attend the 11-day long religious
festival. Prabachan programmes (religious discourses) will be organized in the
evenings.
