Youth Congress stages demo over police excesses
Rourkela: Congress workers
today took out rallies and stages demonstrations in Rourkela as well as in the
State in protest against the alleged police excesses on their workers during a
demonstration in Cuttack on March 12 over Plus Two question paper leak.
The youth and students’ wing of the Congress today lashed out at Higher Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while staging a protest in front of the ADM office here over Plus Two question leak.
Hundreds of party supporters chanting slogans
protested against the March 12 police assault on Congress activists and
demanded resignation of the Higher Education Minister for his alleged role in
plus two exam question paper leak and the Chief Minister for his ineffective
rule in the State.
District Youth Congress President Sri Nayar
demanded a judicial inquiry into the question paper leak and resignation of the
Minister for allegedly ruining the future of lakhs of bright students.
Ashok Giri, district Congress Students’ wing
president said that the brutal police assault on Congress workers are highly
condemnable and demanded booking of the Minister and his arrest for his alleged
role in the above issue. “The police investigating the question paper leak case
should implicate Badri Narayan Patra for his alleged role in leaking question
papers for a price” said Giri.
Nihar Ray, district Congress president who have accompanied
the protest said the leak of question paper in the State is not the first time.
In 2010 this type of incident had happened which is highly regretful and
affecting students’ career the most. Though these incidents that had happened
most of the time in the State still the BJD supremo is sitting silence without
any action against the education minister, alleged Ray adding that this is an
act of conspiracy of the ruling party.
The party supporters burnt the effigies of the
education minister and the chief minister and strongly condemned the police assault
on Congress activists during a demonstration in Cuttack. In this connection a
memorandum has been submitted to the Governor S C Jamir for resignation of both
the education minister and the chief minister through ADM Rourkela.
It is to be noted that seven Congress Workers had
received injuries in the police lathi charge to quell a group of unruly Congress
workers who were engaged in vandalism inside the office of the District Collector
in Cuttack on March 12 protesting against Higher Education Minister
Badrinarayan Patra over his alleged involvement in the annual plus two question
papers leak.
