Zero infection stressed on World AIDS Day


Rourkela: Awareness rallies, seminars, campaigns, interactive activities and distribution of pamphlets were organised by different organisations in the Steel City to mark World AIDS Day here today.

The campaign focussed a new theme ‘Zero infection’ with people being sensitized about its causes, prevention, symptoms and diagnosis.

ADM Rourkela, Rabindranath Mishra, underlined the need for accelerating efforts to spread awareness about scientifically proven prevention strategy.

Dr. S Pradhan, Nodal officer of ART (Anti Retroviral Treatment) Centre of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) spoke about AIDS, its causes, symptoms and treatment procedures.

Among others doctors of RGH, ASHA karmis, Para-medical staffs were present on the occasion.

Earlier on the day an awareness rally was held from ADM office to RGH in which members of Taluk Legal Service Committee, Panposh holding banners attended and the same was flaged-off by ADM Rourkela. Later, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised at RGH premises.
