Man held for duping job aspirants

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old man on the charge of duping job aspirants in the state.

The accused was identified as Subash Parida of Jamapada under Patkura police station in Kendrapada district now staying in Saheed Nagar, forwarded to court today.

Parida working as a supervisor in a private mobile tower company in Saheed Nagar has duped crores of rupees from several job aspirants promising them to provide job in a shipping company.

Parida has duped nearly 100 job aspirants including matriculate and engineers of Kendrapada, Cuttack and Khurda districts and duped with Rs 1.2 crore from them, collecting money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.

One Bhakta Batsala Swain of Kendrapada on Sunday lodged a complaint at Nayapalli police station alleging that Parida duped Rs 6.2 lakh from him promising him to give a better salaried job in a private company.

Acting on Swain’s complaint the police arrested Parida from Saheed Nagar area. Investigation is on to collect data about the exact numbers of duped job aspirants, said Inspector-in-charge of Nayapalli police station Anup Kanungo.

Parida who owned a consultancy firm named JEC & Solutions and a cooperative agency at CRP square had been operating the illegal work since last five years. He also cheated people of Kendrapada promising them to prepare their visa and collected lakhs of rupees from them.
