Parents resent postponement of exam

Rourkela: The first day paper of the annual examination of primary schools scheduled on March 18 was postponed due to delayed arrival of question papers. This has caused resentment among parents of the around 2.5 lakh students in 2400 elementary schools under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) across Sundargarh district. This will delay the admission process for the current academic session.

This act of district administration has given a full blown to the Right to Education of each student who has suffered their losses either by preparation or will by late in paper checking or delays in admission process for the current session.

A teacher of Basanti Colony said that examination and evaluation of paper was to be completed by March end in order to start the new session for next year from April 1. But with the postponement of the first paper the process of evaluation will get delayed, he added saying that it will be a hell of task for teachers to work timelessly for paper evaluation due to the delay of examination.

The exam of the first day paper will be held on March 25. “The failure of the authorities in conducting the examination in time will affect the performance of the students as well as delay the admission process for the current academic session,” alleged Bulu Bhuyan, a parent.

Talking to PBD, District Project Coordinator (DPC) to SSA Bhairav Chandra Patel said students of Classes I to VIII will appear the first day’s examinations on March 25 while rest of the examination schedules from March 19 to 23 remain the same.

He further said RB Printers and Maa Santoshi printers failed to provide question papers in time.
