Women are mentally stronger than men: CEO, RSP

Rourkela: “Women are psychologically, sentimentally and emotionally stronger than men,” said G S Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing a grand function to celebrate the International Women’s Day organised at Gopabandhu Auditorium here yesterday.

Prasad dwelt upon the status of women in Indian society down the ages and how courageous and intelligent women had changed the course of history.

Expressing happiness over the significant progress of women in the 21st century, the RSP CEO exhorted women to believe in themselves. “Society should not treat women as victims and rather view them as fighters who can take any challenge headlong and overcome it,” he added.

Acknowledging the role of women in the progress of RSP, the CEO wanted to see more women getting into the tougher jobs of the Plant. “One day, a lady will be heading the Rourkela Steel Plant,” he hoped.

Speaking on the occasion, Paramita Satapathy, Commissioner, Income Tax, Cuttack, delved deep into psyche of the society when it comes to any issue pertaining to women. In spite of being educated and financially independent women can’t enjoy certain innocent joys of life that men get unconditionally, she noted.

S N Roy, ED (Works) described women as the epitome of love, care and compassion, D Basu, ED (P&A), described each of the 1196 women employees of RSP as a pillar of strength.

A short film ‘Women of Steel’ prepared by the Public Relations Department was shown on the occasion depicting myriad roles played by the women employees in RSP. A compilation of articles ‘Steel Women’ were released by the CEO on the occasion. Dr. Leeza Deo anchored the show.

Among others, R K Nehru, ED (MM), M K Das, ED (Projects) and S K Acharya, ED (Projects) were present.
