Steel Joint Secretary U P Singh visits RSP

Rourkela: Joint Secretary (Steel), Government of India U P Singh, accompanied by his wife Archana Singh today arrived here in the Steel City on a three-day visit.

Singh visited the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). On arrival at the airstrip here, G S Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), RSP, Manjari Prasad, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati, S N Roy, ED (Works), Dipankar Basu, ED (P&A), R K Nehru, ED (MM), M K Das, ED (Projects), S K Acharya, ED (Projects), J Singh, DIG (CISF) and other senior officers of RSP and vice presidents of Deepika Mahila Sanghati, accorded a warm welcome to Singh and his wife.

Singh, along with Prasad and other senior officers, visited various project sites of RSP including the New Raw Material Handling Plant, New Blast Furnace-5, New Caster, New Coke Ovens Battery-6 and the New Plate Mill. In each of these units Singh took a keen interest on the progress of the projects.

A presentation was made on the performance of the Plant on various fronts as well as future plans in a meeting at CEO’s Conference hall with the Joint Secretary (Steel) along with the CEO and other senior officers.

Singh also visited Beginner’s Academy, a school runs by Deepika Mahila Sanghati, and ‘Home and Hope’, an institution for the mentally challenged patronised by RSP and distributed fruits among the students. Manjari Prasad and other office bearers were present on the occasion. Mrs. Singh visited Deepika Mahila Jagriti Sansthan, where she interacted with the trainees of the Deepika Hast Kargha Centre as well as other women working in various units of the Sansthan.

Rourkela: ‘A picture says a thousand words’ is an adage that aptly describes photographs by  A N Maniyappan, which were on display at 8 th National Conference of Steel Worker’s Federation of India (SWFI) at Bhanja Bhawan. The 68-year old man from Ernakulam district of Kerela, exhibited his rare photographs and collected ones on the theme ‘In defence of Civilization’. The exhibition featured 400 collections of photographs on a wide range of subjects. Plus two exams to start from March 1

Rourkela: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha today declared that it would conduct Plus Two examinations from March 1 to 30. While examination will be held for all the three streams- Arts, Science and Commerce, exam for vocational education will also be held during the month. Examination for theory papers will be held from March 1 to March 23 and those for practical papers will be held on the rest of the days, informed Yashobant Behera, Controller of Examinations, CHSE. He also informed that the examinations will be conducted in two sittings to accommodate all the students. While around three lakh students are expected to appear in the plus two examinations in the State, examination forms can be filled from January 2 to 21.

RSP CEO lays stress on profitability

Rourkela: Enhancement of profitability and NSR through improved despatch should be the prime objective of the employees, G S Prasad, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) said today during his visit to the units that have achieved the APP targets in the month of November. Accompanied by S N Roy, ED (Works), the CEO went on a visit to the Sinter Plant-II, Pipe Coating Plant, SWPP, Hot Strip Mill and R & C Lab. At each of these departments, Prasad interacted with employees and lauded them for their excellent contribution and discussed about the future endeavours. He laid emphasis on increasing the despatch to maintain profitability of the plant. Employees, on their part, assured the CEO that they would strive further to improve their performance and bring greater glory to the plant.
