CAIT supports nationwide bandh on Sept 20

Rourkela: Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Odisha chapter today held a preparatory meeting here at Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) office for nationwide bandh on September 20. President of CAIT Odisha branch, S Patnaik, CAIT Senior Vice President B M Agarwal and RCCI Secretary Rajesh Agarwal were present in the meeting.

Briefing media persons, S Patnaik dubbed the Central Government’s proposal on 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retails sector as anti-national and anti-consumer. This will directly affect the small traders in the country, he observed.

Agarwal said that the Government had earlier backtracked on the issue following stiff protest by lakhs of traders under the banner of CAIT. He alleged that Government now wants to go ahead with the same on the plea of boosting Indian market.

In protest against this, a peaceful agitation will be observed on September 20. CAIT urged all traders and their unions in Rourkela and Sundargarh district to take part in the bandh.
