Odishi Consumer Fair ends, logs Rs. 1 crore biz


Rourkela: Odishi Consumer Fair organized by Rourkela Expo Event Management Group at Exhibition Ground near Bhanja Bhawan here concluded yesterday yielding a business of Rs. 1 crore.

Organiser of the fair, Sanjiv Nayak, informed that the 15-day fair logged a turnover of Rs. 1 crore. As many as 90 stalls including those of Eureka Forbes, HPL CLF Bulbs, Kent Water Purifier, Cooking home appliances, Honey Wells, Tele Shopping products, Two-wheeler, Chevrolet car demo-cum-sale, Shahranpur (UP) furniture, Vodarai (UP) carpet, Rajasthani bedsheet, pickles, leather bags, ornaments and other ladies items had been put up. The expo had also stalls put up by some study centres imparting information on management studies and distance education.

“Leather items like bags, belts, wallets, and other items alone accounted for a turnover of Rs. 50, 000,” said Faisal Hasan, a trader who participated in the fair. Nayak said that the first fair in the city was held in 2007, and there after trade fairs are being organized in Odisha and outside. A similar fair was organized at Jharsuguda last month while another fair has been planned at Angul in November, he informed.

This time jewellery items and leather bags did a good business. Demand for Matrix Aluminium ladder was also high. However, Nayak said that more business could have been done this time unless the weather had turned bad. This year, about 75, 000 people thronged the fair.
