Rourkela: ‘KAVYA Sandhya-2012’, a poetry recital session of some celebrated poets of India was organised by Rajbhasha department of Rourkela Steel Pant (RSP) at Civic Centre yesterday. Many eminent Odia and Hindi poets regaled the audience with their writ and wisdom during the cultural programme which was inaugurated by G S Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSP.

Welcoming the poets to the steel city, the CEO said, “The prime motive of organizing such an event is to de-stress the steel makers working in the plant and re-energize them.”

The ‘poet brigade’ enthralled the audience with couplets, poems, songs and jokes which proved to be a total entertainment package. Sunil Jogi, the anchor of the evening, made the pogramme memorable by his words and recitation.

At the outset, Gyan Hota presented a melange of his take on society especially with respect to women. While Suresh Awasthi tickled the funny bone by describing real life incidences with a pinch of salt and rare flair, Hari Om Pawar shook the sensibilities of the audience with his unique blend of hard hitting satire and heart touching pathos.

Suman Dubey held the audience in thrall with her brilliant verse, lucid weaving of different streams of thought and her mellifluous singing.

Green Energy Corporation in State soon: Minister

Rourkela: The Odisha Government is soon going to establish a Green Energy Corporation to promote renewable sources of energy, said State Energy and I & PR Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo while inaugurating an international conference on Solar Energy Photovoltaic at KIIT University at Bhubaneswar today. Speaking at the conference organised by the School of Electronics Engineering of KIIT University, the Minister said that renewable energy sources like solar energy have great importance as those are not finite like natural fuels such as coal and petroleum. But the generation of solar energy is expensive and scientists and researchers should try hard to make it affordable.
