Chief Secretary Winds up Sundargarh visit

Rourkela: The three-day visit of Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik to Sundargarh districts concluded after his visit to the Steel City here last night.

Soon after his arrival at the Circuit House in the city at around 8.30 pm, leaders of various political parties, organizations, ADM Rourkela Rabindranath Mishra, Sub-Collector, Panposh S B Mishra, Chairman of Rourkela Municipality Rashmibala Mishra and Vice Chairman R N Mishra, Union leaders and CEO of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) with other senior officials, Bar Association members and members of Rourkela Chambers of Commerce and Industry met him. A host of issues relating to major developmental issues like construction of second bridge on Brahmani and Koel rivers, setting up an ESI Medical College and Hospital, regular air services, and ongoing modernization process of RSP came up for discussion.

The Chief Secretary assured Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak to look into his demand for providing irrigation facilities in Panposh sub division. Nayak also apprised him of large-scale encroachment of government land, mega housing project for steel city, widening of road inside the Steel City etc.

Among others, Water Resources Secretary and CMD of Omfed Suresh Mohapatra, Sundargarh Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo, CDMO, Sundargarh Ratnakar Choudhury, CMO of Rourkela Government Hospital R K Joshi, Sundargarh SP Sanjib Arora, Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal and Sub-Collector Sundargarh Bimalendu Ray were present.

Prior to his departure from the city, Raghunathpali MLA Subrat Tarai met Patnaik in the morning hours and discussed about various development issues of in and around Rourkela along with land allocation for proposed ESI Medical College and Hospital at Rourkela.

The Chief Secretary arrived in the city after his visit to Jharsuguda yesterday. It is noted that during his tenure as the Collector of Sundargarh district between 1986-89 Patnaik had earned immense popularity for his pro-people attitude.
