Energy Minister laids projects in Steel City

Rourkela: During one-day visit of Minister of Energy and Information & Public Relations Arun Sahoo to Rourkela yesterday has witnessed various programmes related to energy.

Sahoo laid the foundation stone of two 33/11 KV Sub-stations, one at Bandhamunda and other at Jalda in the presence of Minister of State for Commerce and Transport Subrat Tarai and other senior officials of the energy department and party leaders.

Sahoo informed that the locals will be well served once the put-up works of these two sub-substations finish.

Sources said an estimated budget of Rs. 3.10 crore for Bandhamunda and Rs. 2.26 crore for Jalda will be spent for the construction of both the sub-station by the state government which will be completed within a time gap of one and half year to meet the demand of the people.

In the meantime a high-level review meeting was held at RDA conference hall here, in which Sahoo examined thoroughly and discussed on different ongoing programme on energy in the district like Rajiv Gandhi Gramina Bidyut Karan Yojna, Biju Gram Jyoti Yojna and Biju Saharanchal Bidyut Karan Yojana. Sahoo also directed the Managing Director of WESCO P. Gopal Reddy to take immediate steps towards these programmes for their proper functioning and implementation as well as should complete these programmes in time.

He also directed to WESCO authorities to take appropriate steps to provide require electricity in four municipalities and villages of the district.

Commerce and Transport Minister urged the energy minister to ask his department officers to provide electricity in the remote areas of the district.

Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak apprised the minister about the problems in supply of electricity in various part of his constituency and urged for its remedy.

Among others Sundargarh Collector Roopa Rosan Sahoo, RDA Chairman Dayanidhi Kissan, Rourkela ADM R N Mishra, Rourkela Municipality Chairperson Rashmibala Mishra, officials of District administration and WESCO were present.
