RGF decries tardy dev work in Rourkela; threatens stir

Rourkela: Hrushikesh Mohapatra, General Secretary, Rajiv Gandhi Forum (RGF) said that the slow pace of development work by the State government is a hindrance to the development of Rourkela.

Briefing media persons, here today, Mohapatra stated that in the case of PLO cards, as many as 30,000 cards should have been given to the actual beneficiaries, but till now, 9000 cards have been given by the Rourkela Municipality.

He added that the construction of a second Bridge on river Brahmani and providing houses to the poor under the Rajiv Awas Yojana are also delayed. He warned the State government by saying that if, within three months, the demands are not met by the government, then his organization will organize rallies and will block the Brahmani bridge near Panposh.

Mohapatra also highlighted the plight of hundreds of apprentice students who are unable to get jobs in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). He demanded that they should be given jobs soon. He warned that the gates of Rourkela Steel Plant will be closed if this demand is not met.

Ezaj Akhtar, President, Sheikh Firdous, Vice-President and Babu Singh, Secretary and other members of RGF were among those present at the meet.
