NIT to celebrate 51st Foundation day

Rourkela: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is going to celebrate its 51st Foundation Day on August 15.

On the occasion, the Institute will organise the Fifth Foundation Day Lecture titled “Pursuit of excellence- A never ending journey” to be delivered by Prof Hem Shankar Ray, an eminent scientist and former Director, IMMT, Bhubaneswar.

This lecture is primarily about “soft” qualities that help individual or institutions to approach “sufficient” conditions when the necessary conditions exist. Pursuits of Excellence is a never ending journey and in spite of all the prevailing disorder in the society; indiscipline, corruption, chaos and various other obstructions, the journey remains a rewarding one.

The one-hour event would begin at the Bhubaneswar Behera auditorium of the Institute at 9.30 am.

The celebration will conclude with award of prizes for different events among the students and cultural evening with popular Gotipua, dance and drama.

The Institute, formerly known as Regional Engineering College (REC), was established on 15th August 1961. It was renamed as National Institute of Technology (NIT) in the year 2002.

The Foundation Day celebration being organized by SAC (Student Activity Centre) under the guidance of Prof. D R K Parhi, President, SAC and Prof. K C Biswal, Dean (Student Welfare), will be presided over by Prof. Sunil Kumar Sarangi, Director of the institute.
