Training camp on disaster management kicks off


Rourkela: A three-day training camp on disaster management was kicked off today at Uditnagar High School here.

Organized by Civil Defence, Rourkela and patronized by Central Government, the camp is aimed at imparting training on how to prepare for disasters. It was inaugurated by Panposh Sub-Collector Shyam Bhakt Mishra, who said that such training camps will be helpful for better disaster management in the district.

As many as 150 cadets of NCC, NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Civil defence from different parts of the district participated. This camp will continue till 20 August 2012 with various training programmes on how to deal with situations during disasters like cyclones, storms, floods, earthquakes besides accidents, stampede, fire, epidemics, animal diseases and pest-attacks and chemical disasters.

Rourkela chief of Civil Defence, Arjun Chandra Majhi, said that on receiving such training, the cadets will be well prepared to deal with disasters.
