AMKS welcomes new pellet plant

Rourkela: Bishnu Mohanty, President of Adhunik Metaliks Karmachari Sangh (AMKS), at a media briefing at the Chhend Office said that the union welcomes the setting up of a 2.5 million tonne Pellet plant by Adhunik Metaliks Plant in Kuanrmunda.

He said after the proposed plant becomes operational, people from the area would be employed by the company. “With the setting up of the plant, areas in and around Kuanrmunda will be developed”, added Mohanty.

He informed that on March 31, 2012, the wage agreement period had expired and AMKS had discussed with the officials of the company about a new wage agreement. He alleged that despite raising the issue seven times, work in this regard has not yet started.

He said that if the company does not pay attention to the condition of the workers, then AKMS would go on a bigger strike.
