RSP CEO lauds media role in fighting corruption

Rourkela: Dwelling upon the role of media, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) CEO G S Prasad said that media should act as a driving force to eradicate corruption and it is playing a crucial role in adopting an investigative approach to unravel truth.

He was speaking at a seminar on ‘Anti Corruption Movement and Role of Media’ organized by Rourkela Press Club (RPC) to mark its 33rd annual day here yesterday.

Eastern India Head of Agency France Press (AFP), Pratap Mohanty spoke at length on media’s significant role in creating awareness about the current anti-corruption movement adding that it is now our country’s turn where every form of media be it Social media—the newest entrant in media section, Print Media—With maximum reach to the hinterland, Electronic Media—which has greatest impact on rising middle class, has to display exceedingly significant role in creating awareness about the current anti-corruption movement. Certain media like the regional media has played the role of a dedicated activist, he pointed out.

“In the contemporary world, more and more people are on social networking sites, which play a vital role in shaping opinions and spreading awareness about various issues. They played a pivotal role in current anti-corruption movement,” Mohanty added.

President of RPC M D Parija presided over the meeting while Secretary of RPC Mihir Ray read out the annual report of the institution.

Senior journalist Aditya Prasad Biswal and Pradyumna Satpathy, among others, also spoke on the occasion. 

Later, a souvenir and a book written by A P Biswal on Journalist and Media were released by the guests on this occasion.
