BPUT to add five more PG programmes from 2013 session

Rourkela: Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela today celebrated its fourth foundation day today at the Chhend campus here.
Inaugurating the function, Chief Guest Prof. Sunil Sarangi, Director of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela spoke on the importance of the University for both students and staffs.
Describing the importance of the university, Sarangi informed that in order to meet the goal of making India a world leader in science and technology, efforts should be made to inculcate a spirit of scientific excellence among the faculty, staff and students.
“Honesty, hard work and team spirit are the three principles that have always guided world-class universities. With 1.30 lakh students, BPUT is trying to do its best”, he said, adding that university is a place where knowledge is created, regardless of whether it is constructed on an area of 5 acres or 100 acres.
Delivering the welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of BPUT, Prof. Jitendriya Kumar Satpathy said that BPUT will shift completely to the Chhend campus soon. "We are in a transition stage and there are a lot of problems to solve", he stated, adding that interviews for recruitment for the key posts in the university would be held very soon.
According to sources, BPUT plans to introduce five more PG programmes and research activities from 2013 session onwards in Rourkela for which 25 sanctioned posts would be filled up.
The whole programme was presided over by Dr. P K Satpathy, Registrar in charge, BPUT including Vote of Thanks.
Among others Prof. S P Mohanty, Director of Examination, BPUT, Finance Officer H Bhitria, Staffs and students of different colleges under BPUT were present in the function.
