RMD of SAIL observes Vigilance Awareness Week

Rourkela: The Vigilance Awareness Week was observed by Raw Materials Division (RMD), SAIL in its Rourkela office from October 29 to November 03. All its employees took pledge of maintaining integrity and transparency in all spheres of their duties conscientiously.

As part of the Vigilance Week celebration, discussion session on this year’s theme is 'Transparency in Public Procurement' was organised. The essay and elocution competition amongst employees were held during the week-long celebration.

In the concluding function of this awareness week, A P Sinha, GM (Maintenance), RMD and L N Mallik, DGM (CSR), RMD spoke in detail on the importance of transparency and honesty in Public Sector Undertakings and the role of employees in building the company’s image. They all stressed on transparency in every walk of life and one should listen to the inner conscience while discharging duties. Asha Gupta, H K Mahanta, B R Padhy, Anupam Naik, T K Paul received prizes in different competitions. B Mishra, Manager (Personnel) conducted the programme.

Rourkela: ‘A picture says a thousand words’ is an adage that aptly describes photographs by  A N Maniyappan, which were on display at 8 th National Conference of Steel Worker’s Federation of India (SWFI) at Bhanja Bhawan. Developmental trial of Astra missile conducted

Rourkela: India today conducted developmental trial of its indigenously developed beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air missile ‘Astra’ from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, about 15 km from Balasore. The sophisticated missile was test-fired from a launcher in launch pad-2 of the ITR at about 01.25 PM targeting a flying object being supported by a pilotless target air-craft ‘Lakshya’, defence sources said. The single stage, solid fuelled ‘Astra’ missile is more advanced in its category than the contemporary BVR missiles and is capable of engaging and destroying highly manoeuvrable supersonic aerial targets. The 3.8-metre long missile, having a diameter of 178 mm with an overall launch weight of 160 kg, can carry a warhead containing conventional explosives weighing 15 kg.
